Ok talks about some alternatives like Poetry and pyenv, which have their own issues.
pyenv is a poor cousin of rbenv, has such a poor cli api and a leaky abstraction over virtualenv (with its plugin for virtualenv)
- hprotagonist 6y agoit’s not an abstraction over virtualenv at all; pyenv installs python interpreters, and those interpreters should use -m venv instead of virtualenv anyway. did you mean pipenv instead? we suck at naming things (and pipenv has its share of issues, no arguments there).
- manojlds 6y agoNo I meant the pyenv virtualenv plugin. Have been using it for a long time that forgot that there's a plugin involved.
- hprotagonist 6y agooh! Yeah, I don't use it at all. pyenv-installer drags that plugin in, and i cleverly fail to source it since it's totally useless for my purposes.
