I think it's completely reasonable to doubt people's motivations, but I think it's unreasonable to attribute them to influence by ill-defined, Illuminati-esque groups, or vague ideological political leanings. Looking at the matter at hand, we're talking about youtube comments. We don't need to look far to see other instances of Google pandering to the Chinese government, directly in support of censorship.
