SQL Anywhere was an amazing product. What's left out in the article is that it was also really fast. I had an assignment in 1998 to benchmark it against another pocket database. SQL Anywhere was 100x faster. On the Excel throughput graphs I had to use right and left Y axes for each product. Otherwise product #2 was just a flat line on the X axis. ;-)
