Ho-hum, another alarming article about how we're all going to hell in a handbasket. If the virii don't kill us, the climate change will.
It's all about globalist control, and people are waking up.
- bmikaili 6y agoWhat? Climate change is scientific fact bro
- polotics 6y agoAt this point it's a case of don't feed the troll, it will get hot enough under bridges they'll just fry out or get washed by a rain bomb soon enough.
- smitty1e 6y agoI just enjoyed a Hydrosphere course at the local uni. The point was made that humanity is just putting a lot of crap into a system whose limits are poorly understood, and we might want to rethink that a bit. I found the dispassionate, factual presentation more compelling than the Chicken Little fare. The irony may come if it is shown that all of the anthropogenic global warming is what staves off an ice age in the presence of a quiescent sun. https://www.forbes.com/sites/jamiecartereurope/2020/05/12/the-sun-is-asleep-deep-solar-minimum-feared-as-2020-sees-record-setting-100-day-slump/#14272295e283 https://www.forbes.com/sites/jamiecartereurope/2020/05/12/th...
- SuoDuanDao 6y agoMy favorite conspiracy theory about climate change is that it's a deliberate bit of geoengineering by the ultra-elite to prevent the otherwise arriving ice age, kept secret from the merely very wealthy who wouldn't want to lose their beach homes.
- throwaway888abc 6y ago+1 Well said, "The point was made that humanity is just putting a lot of crap into a system whose limits are poorly understood, and we might want to rethink that a bit." That should be whatever Green initiative slogan so more people understand.
- loopz 6y agoExactly this! Which is why being "anti-Right" or "anti-Left" is dumbing down any discussion, just as much as being "anti-Climate Change" and vica versa (whatever that even means!). We need to lift up knowledge and facts, and present them as such along with possibilities, options and the fact we just don't know all the consequences of current trajectories (for both good and bad!). Same with "anti-News" and not. Though when news is about "survival of the fittest", we see how this may influence news reporting.
- LargoLasskhyfv 6y agoNot to forget some possible (super)volcanic burps, leading to events like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Without_a_Summer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Without_a_Summer and similar, listed there. edit: Don't get this the wrong way! I'm not for dismissing any environmental concerns, the opposite. Just understanding them better.
- smitty1e 6y agoTambora was a VEI7 (whereas the better-known Krakatoa eruption was VEI6). Yellowstone could hit VEI8, but has apparently taken a mellower view of late: https://www.usgs.gov/faqs/yellowstone-overdue-eruption-when-will-yellowstone-erupt https://www.usgs.gov/faqs/yellowstone-overdue-eruption-when-...
- fredsted 6y agoHonestly surprised (and disappointed) about all the climate change denial on this site.
- taylodl 6y agoEver think the virii and climate change might be connected? My daughter did her capstone project for high school this year and she studied how climate change will lead to more deadly virus outbreaks. She has the data to show the two are strongly correlated. She presented her results November last year where she said to expect more worldwide viral outbreaks as a result of climate change. Her teacher expressed some concern that she hopes it isn't true. Now that teacher thinks my daughter predicted coronavirus - which she didn't, she only said to expect more such outbreaks as the world heats. And no, people are not waking up because they're still denying the role man is playing in causing these problems. That denial only serves to increase our suffering. However you are correct in noting that the effective solution to these problems requires a coordinated global response. Sorry to break the news to you - but you are a member of a species that's now capable of changing a planet's climate - this is no longer science fiction. As such, we have a grave responsibility to ensure our planet remains habitable for future generations. How we meet that responsibility is our choice.
