iPhone Hackers Got Their Hands on the New iOS Months Before Its Release
- elliekelly 6y agoThis unattributed quote made me laugh: > “That sucks,” said a current Apple employee, who didn’t have knowledge of the leak.
- DisjointedHunt 6y agoIf vendors are selling hardware with early iOS decrypted on them, you can bet the Communist Party of China has access to these and has likely already found more than on 0-day exploit on there they're using against dissenters. So while Apple battles the FBI in courts in the US, they have known (And likely the FBI and DOJ have too) that the most highly guarded corporate secrets they possess, iOS source code, has been compromised by bad actors in China. This is much bigger than anything in the news at present since the ramifications for global affairs, supply chains, and Apple as a company continuing to manufacture in China are profound.
- iaw 6y agoJust FYI, the article does not make clear if this was the source code or a binary. I do not disagree with you, but this isn't the best evidence for your case.
- DisjointedHunt 6y agoFollow the links to the Twitter entities mentioned in the story and look at posts on their timeline. The user “Atomic F” is selling the raw files for $280, screenshots and screencasts of raw folder names and many other obvious indicators that this isn’t just a binary but the literal whole OS.
- valuearb 6y agoThe whole OS is a binary.
- DisjointedHunt 6y agoWell, apologies, i assumed by "Literal" whole OS, i was drawing the distinction between a binary and the raw files.
- nojito 6y agoNot really. Any and all exploits into iOS require physical access via the lightning port.
- thatguy0900 6y agoWhy would that be the case? There have been many exploits without that in the past, did apple recently learn how to write perfect software? You might not believe that any government possesses a vulnerability like that but to suggest that there are none seems extraordinarily unlikely.
- pertymcpert 6y agoWhy would China have the source code?
