Tails is a operating system that protects your privacy and avoids censorship
- dang 6y agoLots of previous discussions, so the project home page is probably too generic to make a good HN submission. https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=false&query=Tails%20comments%3E3&sort=byDate&type=story https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=false&qu... The reverse is also true: if the project hadn't had much attention on HN before, this would make a fine submission. I wrote about this issue recently: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23071428 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23071428
- charliebrownau 6y agoGday Is Tails really a valid secure solution It uses Firefox default with TOR VPN along with Gnome now doesnt it ? In 2020 its very clear that default Google Chrome and Firefox , cant be trusted Both companies support "Diversity and inclusion" before security, privacy, merit and equal oppunity Both browsers report back data Both browsers have forks and different more secure editions Such as Librefox or Waterfox/palemoon over standard stock firefox or Brave/iridium instead of default chrome LibreOffice still seems to "need" java for its database thing in 2020 Also considering 99% of western unis are Global left wing Zionists/Marxist/commie brainwash re-education centres can we trust TOR that relys on western unis ? Unis are no longer places for factual truth or reliable learning or trusted places
- RikNieu 6y agoMy first question is who's behind it?
- upofadown 6y agoCrypto AG shows us that you should assume it is entirely owned by the CIA... You should evaluate stuff like this independent of your feelings towards the people that did it. Ultimately you can't trust anyone but yourself.
- woodandsteel 6y agoIts open source, and furthermore it is used by parts of the government that want to stay anonymous, so I would say it is trustworthy.
- LockAndLol 6y agoIs tails supposed to be run as an OS installed on the main disk or even as a main OS? From this it looks like it's supposed to be for temporary use in high-risk situations.
- secfirstmd 6y agoMainly from a USB stick so that you run it in memory where possible
