4.5 definitely had a compiler in it, as did later versions (after the first time I found 7.1, I stopped using the others). I should note that I'm not up to speed on the difference between QBasic and QuickBasic, though--so far as I know they're the same product, but there might be differences. My favorite program for autoexec just had an infinite loop until you hit Ctrl+C.
