The only time I’ve seen similar delays is when my mac decides it needs to do something on an external disk that needs to spin up. I have a 12Tb external that can take 10 seconds to spin up, so get a 10 second stall waiting for I/O once in a while. I do wonder if the author has something similar going on, either with a directly attached disk or a network share.
