I have done the same. Labview is confusing and destroys computers, old and new. What I recall from the 90's was using DOS labview to make a control UI and it was pretty remarkable for it's time, clean and lightweight and easy to implement. When I saw what it had turned into a couple years ago my jaw dropped.
