"Personal computer" means one person per computer, vs a mainframe. It's not a privacy statement.
- ghostpepper 6y agoThis is actually not how I understand the origins of the phrase. Before the PC, all computers were owned by large corporations and governments, and the PC was seen as a way to take back that control. See also: Apple's famous 1984 ad.
