Heh. I have a lousy sense of direction. Once I was in the middle of San Francisco, utterly lost (this was in the days before ubiquitous cell phone maps), trying to make my way to a tech developer conference. I tried and failed to use a paper map. I tried asking people for directions and failed to understand or follow them. Eventually I gave up and just looked at the people around me. Then I moved backwards along the techie gradient, which took me straight there on the shortest possible path. (No lanyards at the time, either. Or I was new enough at the game to not know to look for them? I don't recall.)
