It's nice to know if people are reading what you're putting out.
- p4bl0 6y agoIs it really so nice that you are okay with handing over their personal data to Google? I really think this is a problem.
- SquareWheel 6y agoI really don't think anything collected qualifies as personal data. I use https://minimalanalytics.com/ https://minimalanalytics.com/, which sends a tiny network request. Remember that it's easy enough to opt-out of Google Analytics, too. I leave it enabled because I consider it to be useful data for webmasters.
- Narann 6y agoI have a (french) blog[1] having analytics for first years. I realize most page views where not necessary the ones I had the most fun at writing. It was sad to realize your next post would not necessary bring interest and you start to bring what you guess peoples would be interested in, and not what you are interested at in the first place. It breaks motivation on the long run. Like if you where no more blogging for yourself. I finally remove analytics and now write what I love without being to rationals. It brings far less pressure. - SquareWheel 6y agoI can appreciate that! I have some videos I've created that I've never once checked the view stats for. In that case, I'm just as happy not knowing. Somehow I feel differently about articles I've posted, but to each his own.
