Exactly this. As someone who abandoned OOP, I find that my programming has improved a lot. But whenever I hear criticism of OO, it's always about this ancient taxonomic structuring (is-a has-a) idea that no one doing post 90s OOP is doing at all. And it's always proponents of "simpler" procedural paradigms that harp on about this. Weird.
- throwaway894345 6y agoIf no one does this taxonomic structuring or god object design, then what distinguishes good OOP from data oriented programming? Also, taxonomic design was popular in code and in pedagogy (in Java, C#, and C++ anyway) when I was in school circa 2010.
