Ive been debugging packet loss issues lately and they did all occur in the datacenter. For backbones and network exhanges they move so much traffic already that things like everyone working remote only increases traffic by a few percent, and they have a lot of over capacity in order to handle spikes or when a new game is released and everyone downloads it at the same time. So yes it would really help to have more decentralisation. Like putting the content closer to the user.
