Community currencies are REALLY interesting in that it allows for local inflation but also prevents currencies in one community from dominating opposing communities. For example, if there was a currency for 'coal' then the 'environmental' community could basically reject that currency. Right now if coal mining makes a ton of money that's all that matters. They can dominate the local economy.
