If I get an email to confirm, I can safely ignore it and be done with it. Otherwise, it is a major annoyance. Seconding this. As a holder of firstname at a-mainstream-email-service, I've had to unsubscribe to mailing lists far too often. If a service doesn't offer me a way to unsubscribe, sometimes I have to recover the offending account's password and request for the account to be deleted.
