I think this site would be improved if there were a guideline discouraging not just snark, but also sarcasm. Sarcasm is often a technique for covering unwarranted accusations, strawmen, bitterness, and worse behind vague innuendo and implication, which makes it more difficult to uncover and address the real nature of the toxicity and dysfunction motivating the sarcastic comments. If a commenter is encouraged to voice their criticism and premises more directly and explicitly, the merit (or lack thereof) of their position is more readily subject to honest examination.
