Could you please simplify (in very layman terms) what you're trying to say throughout this whole exchange
- yowlingcat 6y agoThink of the phrase "a rising tide lifts all boats" but the opposite. Let's imagine there's a sinkhole and it's pulling boats in. Some of those boats start stealing fuel from other boats and sinking them to keep themselves afloat. Is the right response in this situation to tell some boat captains "It would better for society if you stopped looting other boats and pushing them into the sinkhole" or to focus on the sinkhole they're all trying to escape?
