Woman Sells First Spot in iPad 2 Line For $900
- apress 16y ago$21.95 an hour -- better than flipping burgers.
- middus 16y agoBetter? When you flip burgers, you're not in the rain and your shift does not take 41hrs. This neither sounds healthy nor admirable to me.
- bradfordw 16y agoI'm SURE she'll report that on her 2011 taxes, right?!
- sukuriant 16y agoOnly $900? I bet she could have gotten more than that if she'd tried...
- biot 16y agoThen again, a bird in the hand... Another approach would have been to auction the spot, thus guaranteeing* a $900 minimum and also opening it up to competitive bids. * enforceability with strangers on a street in NY notwithstanding
- hajrice 16y agoThis would look great on a YC application :-p
- HeyLaughingBoy 16y agoHow? As a stupidity filter?
- deveren 16y agoI actually took pictures of the first people in line, waiting outside of NYC's 24hr Apple store last night - one of our rainiest nights of the year! You can check some of the pics out on my flickr page. #candyspan
- bitwise 16y agoIve never understood how people could want something so bad to wait in line like that. I really don't get it.
- duck 16y agoI've never understood how people could want something so bad to pay an extra $900 just to be the first to buy something like that. I really don't get it.
- lhorie 16y agoI suppose it's the same reason why people would stand in line to buy popcorn in a movie theatre. Sure you could buy it some other time, but it's not quite the same "experience". (and no, I would never wait in line for hours to buy an iWhatever)
- agentq 16y ago"He’s not alone in paying for the cache of being among the first to purchase apple products." cache? sigh
- georgekv 16y agoNow why didn't I think of that.
- bgentry 16y agoI was right with her until I got to this sentence: "She plans to buy tickets to a Lady Gaga concert with the cash that she earned for her trouble."
