I find that some ideas gestate on the backburner "I wish I had time to implement feature X". Then upon going into the code I realize the basic framework already exists to implement the feature. One of the more pleasant experiences in our code base. The negative experiences of "Did I write this?!?" tend to be driven by performance bottlenecks and profiling.
