The amount of risk.
- alwillis 6y agoCorrect. The mortality rate for the flu is 0.1%; for Covid-19 is at least 1-4%—as much as 40x as deadly. There’s a significantly higher risk of dying from Covid than the flu.
- glofish 6y agoperhaps if you are a nursing home resident, for under 40 the flu and many other diseases are far more deadly

- eanzenberg 6y agoCovid is 0.1-0.5%, not as high as you claim.
- cameronbrown 6y agoNobody knows.
- eanzenberg 6y agoSure they do, it’s not even up for debate. Stop watching cnn and msnbc
- cameronbrown 6y agoI don't watch CNN. I live in the UK, and even then, I don't consume much mainstream news.
- eanzenberg 6y agoI haven’t seen any scientific publications with ifr > 1%, they’ve all come in 0.1-0.5%.
- alwillis 6y agoNone of the epidemiologist or public health experts have ever said the mortality rate is that low. It obviously varies by location—during the peak in Italy, it was close to 8% in the Lombardy region.
- Gibbon1 6y agoUCSF epidemiologist said 0.8% with adequate medical care. Course if you take the 15-20% infection rate and excess deaths in New York you get 1% to 1.3%.
