Compiling Lua 5.2 from 2013 with Turbo C 1.0 from 1990 (2014) [video]
- _Microft 6y agoIt seems that this is not unexpected at all since Lua is written in ANSI C [0]. [0] https://www.lua.org/faq.html#1.1 https://www.lua.org/faq.html#1.1
- pjmlp 6y agoIt is a bit hard for Turbo C 1.0 used in this exercise to be fully ANSI C89 compliant, when it was released in 1987. http://bitsavers.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de/pdf/borland/turbo_c/Turbo_C_Users_Guide_1987.pdf http://bitsavers.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de/pdf/borland/tur... So yeah, unexpected. What they are actually using is Turbo C++ 1.0, and for some odd reason decided to call it Turbo C, released in 1990, which isn't the same Borland product. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borland_Turbo_C https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borland_Turbo_C https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbo_C%2B%2B https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbo_C%2B%2B
- boomlinde 6y agoIt's unexpected for the opposite reason. Turbo C 1.0 is not ANSI C compliant.
- _Microft 6y agoI can not edit the submission title anymore but as pjmlp pointed out, this is not Turbo C 1.0 but Turbo C++ 1.0 (and the video title is wrong).
