It bugs me that a lot of friends who are interested in physics (but themselves are not physicists, or at least - not yet physicists) think that history is happening in their eyes. I suggest them (even if they are not physicists!) looking at the "The Crackpot Index" by John Baez (http://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/crackpot.html http://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/crackpot.html) and manually calculating the score for Stephen Wolfram.
