couldnt the CDN issue be fixed by just having a little closer relationship with the CDN? - i am no expert but maybe with a dns record or similar. that way it is another host you are pulling from but within the same domain or something maybe? I don't know, overall i just wanted to say that i totally agree that it doesn't seem like a good feature you go to site X and your browser loads data and makes connections to wherever based on site x's instruction.
