I have noticed this behavior on Ubuntu in 13.13. On the other hand, I kept the habit of expecting a script to fail when modifying it (most of the time, starting a command in the middle makes it fail) but it never seems to occur on macOS’s bash.
- Uehreka 6y agoIf shell scripting on macOS works different (and this sounds like exactly the kind of thing that might work different) then that would explain why I didn’t come across this years ago. Most of my 10 years of shell scripting have been on macOS.
