How did WSJ let this opinion piece through? Garbage in garbage out!
So basically they looked for a correlation without controlling for any external factors? Without controlling for population density or connectivity or anything? Not only that, but they're using reported covid cases as their comparison for when to start the clock? Even though undertesting and different levels of coverage was a known issue, and it's now clear that the disease was circulating for months before many places registered their first cases because they just weren't testing? Basically, they took a noisy measure in a noisy situation, didn't control for any confounding variables, ran a correlation, and found that the result of their regression on a bunch of noisy data was just a bunch of noise. Of course theres no correlation - garbage in garbage out! How did WSJ let this through?
