Navigating a New Chapter for Zoom
- draw_down 6y agoI guess the idea is to react to various rumors about the company, founder, and connections to China. And they are probably smart to post it. I have nothing against Zoom personally, I use it a lot and it works fine. But I can understand if companies and individuals decide to go with another service because they are dissuaded by Zoom’s connections to China (maybe they think appearances are deceiving), not to mention plenty of other reasons. It’s just video chat and there are lots of providers. Again Zoom makes a fine product, but competition is ratcheting up quickly. It’s true lots of companies have offices in China. Lots don’t. Some people care about that.

Lives in the us, is a US citizen, creates jobs in the US, but still has his loyalty questioned constantly. He has to have a datacenter in China to serve his customers that need service in china, and people will keep holding that over his head. Must be frustrating, and it's not an argument he can ever win against people that will never trust him.
