I like Julia, and tried it out, then decided to wait some more.
What happened was that my Julia programming environment just stopped working all by itself, with no apparent updates happening. That did not give me a warm feeling of reliability. This was about 2 years ago.
So how production-ready is Julia now?
- Sukera 6y ago2 years ago was probably pre-1.0 days. The ecosystem changed a little in the time since and the development experience is much improved (especially with Revise.jl and the in-the-works static compilation!). Depending on your application, I'd give it another go.
- mbeex 6y agoSame here. I'm interested, but stopped at least twice caused by the tooling. On Windows at least this happened: - Update problems for packages (refusing for non-explainable network errors) - hardwired installation path for something I forgot (Juno, julia?) - screwing python search path globally after installing julias python interface - more, I'm not remebering anymore A fully portable 'installation' with decent VSCode support would be the first thing, I needed.
