"I don't think "Compact fluorescents" belongs in that list." 20 to 30 years of terrible light aesthetics and here's hoping you never dropped or broke one since, oops, there's toxic waste (mercury) in your house. CF bulbs are just the worst technological diversion I have seen taken in my lifetime and I feel bad for everyone that had to interact with them.
