It would be more precise to write "email address" to make the distinction from "email message." But it is not the cultural norm to equate "email" with "email message" as you seem to do. Juuust kidding. My point is: they probably do not have the used more clear language, because their internal concept of what email is is so fuzzy. That would be my guess anyway.
