A very underused but imo effective tactic for beating the offside (IRL) is having a player offside behind the defenders, and playing them onside by a winger running down the flanks. When it works it looks almost like cheating.
- govg 6y agoUnless I am misunderstanding your tactic, this is almost exactly how Pep's City plays. They frequently rely on a pacy winger beating the defender out wide and cutting the ball into a forward who has beaten the defenders in the center. You wouldn't be able to play the player onside by just having a winger, they would need to have the ball with them for it to count.
