April 28: Uber lays off 5400, CTO resigns
[edit] - Fixed the dates. I've lost all track of time.
- saisundar 7y agoNit - I think you mean April 28.
- benatkin 7y agoAlso April 21 (checked the HN link and it says 7 days ago).
- mangoman 7y agothose last two happened in April not March. I still think it's pretty stark to go from 'we are flush with cash' to '5400 laid off' in one month, but let's not push the idea that they fell off in one week.
- segmondy 7y agoall that can still be true, statement 1 is relative tho. ride out the virus for how long? 1 month? 3 months? 3 years? By laying off 5400, they are now even more flush with cash. it's business.
- hinkley 7y agoWe are not an industry that is particularly strong on the capacity planning front. I don't know where that stems from, but we are constantly surprised when we have too much or not nearly enough of whatever we need, and we don't know what the right amount is until after it has already happened.
- three_seagrass 7y agoMargins drive efficiencies. A grocery store is amazing at holiday planning but a tech company will make guesstimates.
- bhauer 7y agoAmusing. But, are we in March right now?
- rtkwe 7y agoMaybe. Every day feels the same as the last.
- kerng 7y agoIncorrect dates! Please update.
