If some big corps are willing to open source their paxos library (I am pretty sure msft Google Amazon all have their implementation), then there should be no need of any other consideration of competition.
- gen220 7y agoDoes anyone know why they haven’t been open sourced? Are they too closely tied to proprietary hardware? Too dependent on underlying software platforms that would never be open sourced? At this point, would they even offer anything superior to etcd-raft? Asking from a position of honest ignorance.
- tonyarkles 7y agoNot paxos, but if I recall, Hashicorp has open sourced their Golang Raft implementation and it seemed reasonably abstract. It’s late and I’m totally blanking on the names of their products though... it’s the etcd-like one.
