US factory orders plunge 14.4% as economy grinds to halt
- dangus 7y agoLooks like we will have to make America great again...again. Anyway, sorry for the meme reference. But of course, the point is that we still don’t have a coherent federal plan beyond attempting to drink bleach or shoot up Lysol. The Trump administration knew about this in January, denied it’d be a problem, and while I’m sure almost any White House could be equally unprepared due to the West’s complete ignorance of the inevitability of a pandemic, it’s mind boggling that we are almost in May, five months removed from the publicly available news about the crisis in a China, and nobody in this administration has told us jack shit: 1. What does the plan look like for opening up the economy? Sit and wait around with zero information? Which industries will open up first? 2. When is the planned date of reopening and what will that look like? Will we at some point be instructed on what to do? Will there be contact tracing, mask requirements, or other preventative measures put in place? The White House has said nothing on these topics. Just give us a date and if it has to be changed, fine. But Trump is leaving us hanging. 3. Why do the republican party’s own governors not follow federal guidelines, and why isn’t the White House exerting its broad emergency powers to enforce compliance? Will Trump do anything besides sit around proclaiming that the states got this? 4. When will Donald Trump finally be able return to his home state of Florida for a round of golf?
- propogandist 7y agoyou seem to be regurgitating a lot of popular talking points, especially this one: >The Trump administration knew about this in January, denied it’d be a problem.. you do realize that China did a surprise shutdown of the country only during the Chinese New Year holiday break, right? I have a team in China and they're in a province next to Wuhan. They were all stunned by the lockdown during their week off, during the last week of January [1] These were also the points of view at the time: >The WHO is not recommending any international restrictions on trade or travel, but does recommend exit screenings at airports. [2] It's not precedented to shutdown the US nor other parts of the world, especially when the WHO, as noted in the quote above, was telling the world everything was okay. Clearly, the virus and cause was not also well understood at the time, or some false information was being shared by the WHO. (check the dates of the links) Your talking points are disconnected from reality, but you've got a bulleted list of things, so nothing will stop you from your mission. You've also ignored how the liability of opening up a state is being pushed off to state govenors and local officials, as there's no one size fits all opening strategy... that, clearly, doesn't help with the political narrative you're trying to push though. - jjeaff 7y agoIt doesn't take a bulleted list, talking points, or any political slant to recognize that the current administration is a complete failure when it comes to managing this disaster.

- dangus 7y agoNot regurgitated. Documented by six investigative reporters: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/11/us/politics/coronavirus-trump-response.html https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/11/us/politics/coronavirus-t... I have no political agenda, I’m just witnessing an incompetent, evil, lying leader continually get a free pass, being held to the lowest of low standards. February 26, 2020. One of many in a very long four years of constant mis-representations, exaggerations, and bald-faced lies: > "And again, when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done."
