I couldn't agree more. I think people underestimate how much complexity got introduced thanks to the object-relational mismatch. It would be really nice if there were databases that attempted to expose a data interface that is more tree-friendly. That's why I'm keeping an eye out on projects like EdgeDB and DGraph, and even Hasura.
