Ask HN: Do you have an e-ID?
In Sweden over 75% of the population has an e-ID app on their phone and we use it for everything.
Do you have an e-ID? If so, how often do you use it, and how does it work?
- em10fan 7y agoNo - We don't even have a single standard state-issued physical ID, here in the UK, let alone an electronic version.

- em10fan 6y agoWhen registering for a doctor or something, you generally just tell them where you live and your name. You might also need your national insurance number. If they want more, its usually a utility bill proving that, or if they want photo ID, a Driving Licence or Passport, if you have one. For things like voting, you don't need any ID at all on the mainland.
