The difference, of course, is that the hotel owner likely has a car (or three) as well, and even if you don't drive for Uber you'll still need the car to get to/from your new job. Most Uber drivers own a car before starting to drive for Uber. I haven't met a hotel operator who just had a hotel laying around before they decided to start operating it, though.
