I think a better question is: Is there a google employee that doesn’t use Google products for personal use (search, youtube, android), and is there a fb employee that doesn’t have a personal fb account?
- iuguy 7y agoNot sure if it's still the case but it used to be that employees used their FB accounts as logins to work systems.
- notacoward 7y agoNot any more. When I started three years ago, it was a mix of people doing things the old way and people with split accounts. Less than a year later, it went to all split accounts. Also, FWIW, the number of my coworkers who actively use "public Facebook" seems very small.
- ocdtrekkie 7y agoRecent article I read from someone who works on Android: https://jakewharton.com/removing-google-as-a-single-point-of-failure/ https://jakewharton.com/removing-google-as-a-single-point-of...
- anonyxyz 7y agoPretty sure FB wont even hire you unless you are a fanboy to begin with so it's a weak barometer.
- allie1 6y agoWell wouldn’t fan boys who stop using fb after they get an inside peak be a good barometer?
- yots 7y agoA few years ago I was considering applying for a job at FB. The very first stage was linking your FB account. No thanks.
- altgoogler 7y agoGoogler here. Yes, there are many google employees that do not use Google products for personal use. Firefox, for instance, can be used on work machines.
- anonymousobvi 6y agoI use Google's products because I have to. The alternative is spending huge chunks of my time to "work around" Google. Same goes for Facebook, except there is no work-around. This does not mean I support either company, it just means they have manipulated culture to ensure they are the only choice.
