Interesting summary and topic in general. I sensed things were off in my old (home) town but never could put my finger on it and found that asking questions in this direction was frowned upon. That's when I decided to vote with my feet and relocate. Thanks to whoever subbed this and comments here for opening my eyes to a shared perspective and organization that seems to represent that contrarian & data backed view towards what's happening in a lot of these places (especially the insecure rust belt cities) across America.
