Tobacco genetic data can be modified via mosaic virus insertion. This method is standard and has been used to develop ebola vaccine as well. This paper mentions tobacco relative Nicotiana benthamiana has a large biomass yield with high density growth - optimal for greenhouse in only a few weeks so it would scale fast.
