Is your git repo inside of the WSL2 file system or mounted through a Windows directory like it would have been with WSL1? The supposed speed boosts of WSL2 requires having your files living directly inside of WSL2's file system. I haven't tried WSL2 yet since I'm waiting for it to hit stable.
