I find posts like this to miss the point of one of the most important aspects of coding - that of technical leadership. It is the role of whoever is providing technical leadership to drive to clarity among all the participants in the conversation. This is not easy as the logic put forth by both sides is often slightly misaligned - hence this and many other like it. If nobody takes responsibility for making sure this alignment is achieved, yeah, you'll get lots of 'missing the points.' Sometimes this is called 'management,' and if you get really good at it you can even make it to 'upper management...'
