It's not an alias, but you can effectively get this for free with any mail provider by using a plus sign (+). He suggests using emails like: aorth+news.ycombinator.com+2020-04-12@example.com. The benefits are that you get a lightweight alias that you can filter on, but you also get a canary that tells you which site sold your email address when you start getting spam to it! :)
