Tell HN: Things that I would never do without Covid 19 situation (good things)
Thought to share this among all the gloom and doom that is going on. I am doing things that shamefully I would not do as easily and a lot of them are good things.
- Spending heck of a lot more time with my kids. I know this is tough for both parents and kids but it also gave me the opportunity to do more things together. We are privileged to live in a large enough house with a nice backyard and we are utilizing it t the fullest extent.
- One of those things with kids was that I taught them how to bike literally in a week. Befor COVID, I was in office (my own business) until 8:30-9 PM on weekdays which means I hardly saw my kids.
- Taking care of the house. I am tidying up 1 room at a time in my home including areas that I probably would not do for years.
- Talking to family members a lot more, all around the world. I am generally not into too much online chat, facebook etc but due to this situation, I have been checking with family members a lot more. In a way, it is a good thing.
- Taught my 7 year old how to play pool today. A pool table in our basement was gathering dust. It finally has some use :)
- I used to drive like 20 miles per day on an average living in the suburbs. Now I have driven like 5 miles in last 4 weeks. Tons of Gas money saved and great for the environment.
- We are lucky to have enough food and supplies in our area but we have learned how to ration a little bit if really needed. And no, I am not hoarding Toilet Paper but we ensure that items like Milk, Eggs etc are first for kids before we eat them. Just in case.
