The best way I see it, is to have this guy to work for a while, say a few weeks or a few months as a contractor, then either ends it or converts to a permanent job. This is the best interview approach.
- the_arun 7y ago+1, agreed. The industry needs to have a better process for it. Say first month is evaluation or something and if you have two job offers, you schedule it on your calendar sequentially.
- renewiltord 7y agoYou're probably locking out a lot of foreigners that way, but if you find that your top-of-funnel has enough people, this will work really well. Lots of the consultant gigs that people do actually end up with being hired at the company they consulted for.
- tonyedgecombe 7y agoWhen I was contracting I would nearly always get a job offer at the end of the contract. I always turned them down because I wanted to be a contractor, not an employee. I expect the converse applies as well, someone who likes being an employee is unlikely to take up your offer.
- rsynnott 7y agoHonestly that would filter out basically anyone senior, and anyone who could get an actual job elsewhere. Given the choice of going through a normal tech interview process before leaving my current job, or leaving my job for this, why on earth would I pick this?
