I prefer to think of it as a cached query result. Normalization is not compromised since there is no way to introduce inconsistencies.

- earthboundkid 7y agoIf you do a non-atomic update like “add 10 to transactions total” where total is a materialized view, it could bite you, but yes, it is less likely.
