If you believe the free market should operate everywhere in medicine because it will somehow lead to an equitable outcome you also believe that it will deliver good outcomes in infrastructure.
- malandrew 7y agoSince when is equitable outcome a goal? Brand new treatments like all technological innovations take money to develop and will always be expensive for first adopters. Care that becomes faster, cheaper and better is a goal. With the exception of some pharmaceutical regulatory capture shenanigans and administrative bloat due to growing regulations, the healthcare system actually does a really good job at achieving at least two of those goals. Pretty much every treatment available 20 to 30 years ago is faster and better today. Some are cheaper, and some are more expensive.
