I'm kind of similar although I stll work on Java/Kotlin enterprise apps professionally and do JavaScript for hobby projects. And I must actually say that it's a joy to work in modern JavaScript. It has some very nice features (async/await, destructuring, null coalescing, functional features) which make it expressive and succint. It has decent performance as well, nice (lack of) tooling (no need to compile anything!) I probably would not do a huge project with it though (TS would be better fit there).
