Been running this site for about 15 years now and while I don't post often it's usually long-form detailed articles on a broad range of hardware/software/tech/design topics that take me a few months of spare time:
Getting started with security keys (15k words) https://paulstamatiou.com/getting-started-with-security-keys/ https://paulstamatiou.com/getting-started-with-security-keys...
Building a Lightroom PC (30k words) https://paulstamatiou.com/building-a-windows-10-lightroom-photo-editing-pc/ https://paulstamatiou.com/building-a-windows-10-lightroom-ph...
I also host my photography and frequently updated gear/stuff/software-i-use pages like: https://paulstamatiou.com/stuff-i-use/ https://paulstamatiou.com/stuff-i-use/
- focodev 7y agoThat is one expensive setup you how - wow. Your chair costs more than my laptop, monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
- nhooyr 7y agoYour blog is stunning!
- angilr 7y agoWow, your blog is so beautiful. Do you have any posts about how to build a blog like yours? I really admire you!
- soohyung 7y agoI was curious about the same thing and it turns out he does indeed have a post about how he built his blog right here: https://paulstamatiou.com/about-this-website/ https://paulstamatiou.com/about-this-website/
- newfie_bullet 7y agoWow, great site. Really nicely laid out content and images. Being a photographer I'm going to give that Lightroom PC article a read (6 year old i7 isn't holding up that well)
- xendergrunge 7y agoTruly Interesting Stuff there. Thanks for sharing it with the world.
- gabrielrdz 7y agoI really like the format of your blog and it seems your posts are very high quality. Will have fun for a few weeks! thanks for sharing
- sprsimplestuff 7y agoyour treatise on nyc was amazing to read i'm interning there this summer and hoping things can play out for me to still go
- DamnInteresting 7y agoWe seem to be on similar arcs, you and I: I have a site I've been running for about 15 years now which mostly features long-form detailed articles. Mine (damninteresting.com) is built on blog software, though its not very "bloggy," as it's seldom autobiographical.
- silexia 7y agoI also have had a blog (joelx.com) for 15 years with 7000 posts. I like damninteresting.com, I have seen it before and recognize the name as having articles I enjoy! I have done a few long form articles but it is more just quick notes on things.
- ohnope 7y agoI love the quality of your photography, especially on the security keys guide.
- PStamatiou 7y agoThank you! Taking photos for my posts ends up being a considerable effort compared to the outlining/writing parts but also think it adds a lot. I tend to spread the shooting out over a few days, take more shots when I'm not happy with some, try new orientations.. then eventually pick a handful to use from 500-1K+ shots each time.
- leerob 7y agoI absolutely love your site's design and content. The photographer in me is so happy.
- ccodreanu 7y agohey. so happy to see your comment here. i've been reading your blog since ~2009 and matter of fact i discovered news.ycombinator.com thanks to you! all the best :)
- samtimalsina 7y agoWhat a delightful blog! I love the small details in the long-form articles. Bookmarking this for further reading.
- ultrasandwich 7y agoSuch a great blog. Gives me some motivation to find a way to organize my own writing and photos in a genuinely useful way.
- elkos 7y agoI've been following your blog since a long while back. Keep it up.
- vnellore 7y agoGreat blog and photography! Last year I did a trip to NZ similar to yours and your pictures brings back great memories.
