I see this repeated endlessly but I can't track down where it came from. Do you have a source?
- JadeNB 7y agoI think it's an optimistic extrapolation from "it'll take at least 12–18 months to get a vaccine"—for example, > “Like most vaccinologists, I don’t think this vaccine will be ready before 18 months,” says Annelies Wilder-Smith, professor of emerging infectious diseases at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. That’s already extremely fast, and it assumes there will be no hitches. (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/06/when-will-coronavirus-vaccine-be-ready https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/06/when-will-coro... )—to "we'll almost certainly have a vaccine in 12–18 months".
- umanwizard 7y agoYep, but that doesn't imply anything remotely close to "In 18 months or less there will very likely [be] a vaccine".
- JadeNB 7y agoIndeed, that's why I called it an optimistic extrapolation. (Maybe I should have said over-optimistic?)
- umanwizard 7y agoOh sorry, I wasn't disagreeing with you, just expounding on your point. You were perfectly clear!
